Linda Tetsmann and Anette Baum are an women’s endurance paddling duo competing in some of the toughest river races around the world. Fueled by resilience, trust, and a deep love for untamed waters, they continually redefine the limits of human endurance.

03.10.26 Great Alabama 650
Our next big challenge takes us to the USA in early October, where we will tackle the Alabama 650—a grueling 1,000-kilometer ultramarathon. It is one of the toughest paddle races in the world, with an estimated completion time of 5 to 7 days.
The race format is brutal: the organizers don’t dictate when or where you sleep. The entire strategy is completely up to the competitors. However, the course features eight mandatory portages (sections where we must carry our craft over land), each with a strict 30-to-45-minute stop-time. Fortunately, shore-support crews are allowed, and our team will be right there along the riverbank to back us up during this ultimate test of endurance.
Our journey will span the entire state of Alabama, offering an incredibly diverse waterway—ranging from lakes, wide rivers to raging rapids and complex river deltas. The finish line awaits us right at the edge of the ocean in Mobile Bay. This wild course cuts through pristine habitats where our only companions will be alligators, snakes, and sharks.
Since the river winds past several towns, we’ll have a great opportunity to share our adventures and emotions on social media. All competitors will be equipped with GPS trackers, meaning you can follow our progress live through the app!
This will be a massive test of human will, filled with grueling challenges, sleepless nights, and—hopefully—great triumphs. The keys to success will be top-tier preparation and a smart sleep strategy.
